The founder of Wikileaks in court to oppose extradition

British justice began investigating on Tuesday the appeal of the founder of Wikileaks against his extradition to Sweden in a case of rape and sexual assault suspects, the defense of Julian Assange denouncing the “invalidity” of the arrest warrant issued against Australian.

Mr Assange, who was arrested in December in the UK before being placed under house arrest in a property of the English countryside, was present Tuesday at the hearing of the High Court in London, which will last until Wednesday.

One of his lawyers, Ben Emmerson, said the arrest warrant issued by the end of 2010 Sweden was “invalid” because it does not give a description “fair, accurate and correct ‘alleged conduct of Mr Assange .

The conviction of the Bishop Williamson denial upheld on appeal

The German court upheld the conviction on appeal of Bishop Richard Williamson British traditionalist for Holocaust denial, while reducing the fine had been imposed at first instance.

The District Court of Regensburg (South) condemned the Catholic bishop of 71 years and fined 6,500 euros for having denied the existence of gas chambers and questioned the number of Jews killed in concentration camps.

Statements made in Germany in late 2008 were broadcast by Swedish television January 21, 2009.

At trial, Williamson was convicted in April 2010 to 10,000 euros for “inciting racial hatred” after refusing to pay a fine of 12,000 euros proposed by the prosecution of Regensburg to escape trial.

Belgium deadlocked: towards new elections dangerous

Unless the political impasse continue indefinitely in Belgium, new elections seem inevitable after the refusal of Flemish independence of a compromise with the French, although they may more radical positions.

The French Socialist Elio Di Rupo, charged May 16 by King Albert II to form finally a real government – still missing since the elections of June 13, 2010 – saw its compromise proposals Thursday swept by the New Flemish Alliance (N -VA).

Largest party in Flanders, the liberal-conservative formation strongly advocates the eventual independence of the Dutch-speaking region of northern Iraq.
