At the UN, Ahmadinejad’s diatribe against the West, leaving the room

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad delivered on Thursday before the General Assembly of the UN to a new anti-Western diatribe which, as in previous years, caused the departure of the delegations of the United States and the European Union.

The U.S. delegation is a party as the president of Iran strongly condemned the role of the United States in war and in the financial crisis, calling on Western powers to pay reparations for slavery.

The EU delegations stood up in turn, by agreement, in protest, when he challenged the Europeans.

“It was a coordinated EU position when the Iranian president blamed European countries for their support of Zionism + + and refers to the Holocaust,” said the French mission to the UN , describing the speech as “unacceptable”.

In his speech, Ahmadinejad cast doubt on the origins of the Holocaust, as well as the attacks of September 11, 2001 he described as “mysterious”, criticizing the U.S. for killing their sponsor bin Laden rather than bring him to justice.

“The hypocrisy and deceit are permissible to secure their interests and imperialist objectives,” he said about the West.

The Iranian president did not say a word about the approach of the Palestinians to gain admission to a State of Palestine to the UN, an issue that dominates this year’s big event ritual of Heads of State or Government of Member States.

He did not say anything about nuclear power, when he was announced shortly before that Iran was ready to conditionally stop production of low enriched uranium, which the international community has been demanding for years.

“If they give us of uranium enriched to 20% this week, we will cease to enrich uranium to 20% this week. We want only (uranium) enriched to 20% for our consumption interior, “assured Mr. Ahmadinejad in an interview published Thursday by The New York Times.

“If we give (of uranium) supplemented in accordance with international law, according to the rules of the IAEA (the International Atomic Energy Agency, ed), without preconditions, we will stop enrichment “he said.

President Barack Obama on Wednesday called on the platform of the UN to further isolate Iran and North Korea if they persist in not meeting their obligations regarding their nuclear program.

Iran is under the influence of six resolutions of the Security Council of the UN, including four backed by sanctions, condemning its nuclear program, particularly its uranium enrichment activities. Tehran denies wanting to acquire nuclear weapons, but Western governments and experts believe otherwise.

Low enriched uranium is used only for peaceful purposes but if the enrichment is pushed more than 90%, it can be used to make nuclear weapons.

Like every year, the presence in New York of Iranian President is accompanied by hostility in the city. Protesters have set up a “council of war” in a luxurious room of Warwick where he stayed. The group “United against Nuclear Iran” (United Against Nuclear Iran, UANI), denounces him as “the silent partner of al-Qaeda.”
