Tourism in Kyrgyzstan

Written by Sandeep Nehra

The history of tourism in Kyrgyzstan is connected with the recreational system, which generally consisted of the following subsystems:

• Spa and balneomud resources;

• A long rest in fixed residences, tourist and excursion bases, holiday homes and facilities maintenance, short breaks (in the garden of summer community, bases weekend and others);

• Tourism and excursions to tourist facilities, as well as leased and own vehicles, training facilities and more.

With the formation of the sovereign Kyrgyz Republic, which for the first five years of its existence acknowledged the 160 states and 80 countries have established diplomatic relations. Business tourism and especially the shop-tourism have greatly developed.

International specialized tourism developed by leaders of national education, culture and science began to develop non-traditional types of tourism in Kyrgyzstan.

Designed and developed hiking trails, exploring the beauties of nature and the Kyrgyz pearl – Lake Issyk-Kul. Joint stock companies are trying to develop individual tours, send tourist groups in the UAE, China, sending pilgrims to the hajj.

The territory of Kyrgyzstan is conditionally divided into five tourism regions, selected based on their natural landscapes, settlement systems and transport infrastructure.

These are: the northern part of Kyrgyzstan, Issyk-Kul Basin (the latter is particularly interesting for placement travel agencies in connection with the accumulation of historical sites and the potential of natural resources), Talas, Central Tien-Shan and the southern part of Kyrgyzstan. Each of these areas includes the tourist areas, ie relatively isolated area with a different set of natural and ethnographic resources, historic and cultural monuments.

In all the territory of Kyrgyzstan is allocated 80 tourist areas that have many similarities and differences in their characteristics, location and role in the tourist and excursion use. From the location of tourist zones in the system of settlement, the nature and degree of concentration of tourist resources, transport and accessibility of the transition depends on the overall thrust of the development of tourist zones in many ways.

Until 1991, significance, they were divided into two zones: the international importance, now CIS countries – the countries of CIS and republican values (domestic tourism).

The availability of appropriate resources is determined and the functional significance of areas of the main types of tourism: educational tourism, ski, sports, auto tourism, Caving, and hunting tourism and others.

Ethnographic tourism resources inherent in all tourist areas of Kyrgyzstan and forming the basis for the development of tourist and excursion work, unfortunately, is still not enough demand.

Guests of the Kyrgyz Republic and sightseers from the neighboring CIS countries in Central Asia, and especially long-stay tourists have the opportunity to learn about the former horse-nomadic culture, the life of the Kyrgyz people, past and present. But it is preferable to learn their national ethnography in kind during tourist trips and excursions to cities and villages in Kyrgyzstan. In free living intercourse with the Kyrgyz and other locals tourists get acquainted with their customs, family and community celebrations, accompanied by long games. Of particular interest to foreign tourists not only from far, but neighboring countries, causing wedding ceremonies, as well as migrations, but they are not staged here for the tourists.

Based on the climatic, historical and cultural resources in selected tourist areas and taking into account the strategy for socio-economic development of the Kyrgyz Republic at the present stage of its development, highlighted the following priority types of tourism: adventure, ski, sport hunting, fishing, gathering medicinal herbs, climbing , excursion and sightseeing tours to the north and south of the Republic of the Issyk-Kul and mountains, speleolechenie, recreational, resort and health tourism, thematic tours for nature lovers, collectors of herbaria, collectors of minerals, birdsong connoisseurs, archaeologists, etc .

For the future development of foreign, elitist tourism in the first place this document are plans to develop the following types of tourism resources: skiing, sport hunting and fishing combined with the Issyk-Kul and mountains. They are in demand in tourist markets of developed foreign countries – the main suppliers of foreign tourists and foreign exchange. There is no fear that the rounds for hunting and fishing in the Issyk-Kul region and mountain gorges meet competition in the Commonwealth countries.

Analysis of economic efficiency of tourism in Kyrgyzstan and its borders shows that increasing the flow of domestic and foreign tourists and revenue growth in every tourist does not depend solely on investments in the construction of facilities for their placement, but primarily on the degree of development of various types of additional services. To enrich the program of visits by foreign tourists in our country and extend their stay in the Republic can offer the foreign tourist market products that can compete with the existing world counterparts. In addition to ethnographic tourism, it is – ski tours, speleolechenie from asthma and other respiratory illnesses in the caves of “Great Salt” in the Chui Valley and Chon Tuz, about Kochkorka, treatment highlands to the Tui-Ashuu, hunting tours in ohotohozyaystvah, water rafting on the rivers Chu and Naryn River – rafting (also interesting for the children – children’s tourism), fishing trout and Osman, climbing in alpturzonah Ala-Archa, Muztagh “,” Alay “,” Dugoba, trekking , collection of medicinal herbs and mountain berries, collecting minerals, etc.

However, Kyrgyzstan is of great interest for the category of tourists who go on a trip, especially for new knowledge about the history and culture of the peoples of the impressions of meeting new people. On its territory there are more than five thousand historical and cultural monuments of bygone times and people. Here and cave dwellings of prehistoric man, and unique runic inscriptions on boulders, and amazing rock carvings and stone sculptures, and the remains of ancient settlements, and medieval fortresses that have afflicted its inaccessibility and rationality. The territory of the republic laid once the Great Silk Road, and today you can see the ruins of settlements and caravan-sheds, which are located along it and took the travelers and merchants. Among the most significant archaeological and architectural monuments include the following:

Suleiman Gora, Uzgen architectural complex, the Burana Tower, the Mausoleum of Shah-Fazil, a caravanserai – Tash-Rabat, familiarity with which will leave no one indifferent.

In comparison with the neighboring republics in Kyrgyzstan since ancient times occupies a special place oratory. Unique is the great epic “Manas”, which contains more than 200 thousand lines in the history of the Kyrgyz people, and in which praised the courage, love of freedom and perseverance in the pursuit of great ideas.

One of the most surprising for Europeans customs of the Kyrgyz people is rooted in deep antiquity: a guest who came to the house, received from the owners liked him a thing, a gift could be anything: the carpet, nightmares, Pialat, the whip or the horse, a lamb or a ferocious puppy shepherd shepherd. Not surprised by this custom, if one recalls that earlier conditions of nomadic life made meeting people as little as possible and desirable. After guest – this is the only, in contemporary language, the ability to communicate with the outside world: it is new stories and songs never heard before tunes and fantastic events far side…

Unique alpine frost Lake Issyk-Kul with a beautiful comfortable climate in the coastal zone and golden sandy beaches is truly a jewel of Kyrgyzstan mountain region. But this is not the only lake in Kyrgyzstan. In total there are about two thousand – the mountain lakes of different origin – Zavalnoye tectonic, glacial and karst. There is a lake – the giants that water volume and depth can compete with other seas, there are temporary lakes, baby, because of its small size and the brevity of life does not even marked on topographic maps. If you return to the Issyk-Kul, one should say that the sunshine coast on its much more than on the Black Sea coast of the Caucasus or the Crimea. In winter you can use for skiing and ski slopes are excellent, located an hour’s drive from the lake, as well as to combine leisure-adjusted health through mud and thermal mineral waters.

Issyk-Kul region is divided into two significantly different from each other parts: Issyk-Kul Basin has favorable conditions for the development of mass tourism, and the eastern part – almost uninhabited pry Issyk-Kul Divide, stretching south from the crest Terskey Ala-up to the border with China, fit only for sport and motor tourism. The area is associated with the capital of the Republic of highways and railways, paths in Boom gorge. There is a sustainable aviation communication with the cities of Karakol, Cholpon-Ata, and the village Tamga.

Magnificent sandy beaches, clear mountain-sea air, mild climate, more than 20 groups of thermo sources, reserves curative mud – all this makes the Issyk-Kul richest Sanatorium, a place of pilgrimage for tourists. The best place to relax near the water and on the water – sailing yachts, rowing boats, windsurfers.

There are many interesting and for those who care about history: bank blue pearl of the Tien Shan offer a lot of mysteries. Different cultures of nomadic tribes, successive over the centuries, left their monuments: the Neanderthal sites, ancient burial mounds, clusters of petroglyphs, enigmatic statues, the ruins of ancient settlements, hidden at the bottom of the lake. The sights of the coast can be attributed and roadside cemeteries with cartouches mazars of clay, brick and metal, which often meet in the way of tourists.

Tours for licensing hunting and fishing, of course, attract many tourists to the republic from near and far abroad. In addition, you can “hunt” with a camera; just watch the unique fauna of our planet. Especially since the republic many zoological reserve, tours are interesting for everyone who loves nature.

Require special attention in the Issyk-Kul basin in general, the development trail ring. The developed system of roads, both on the coast and in some valleys are creating favorable conditions for its development.

Tourism in Issyk-Kul area may be added in such a leisure activity, which has not yet received a development. Peculiar hotels on the water – boatel equipped with comfortable cabins, bars, restaurants, gaming complexes and tanning beds will attract many tourists in the summer season. When traveling on the lake, tourists can visit many corners of the northern and southern coasts. During the resting sites commit cognitive, recreational and scenic tours in the mountain gorge.
