Investment opportunities in Kyrgyzstan

The entire modern history of the Kyrgyz Republic is marked by the reforms. New approaches and methods for solving the political, economic and social objectives embodied in the pilot program “Comprehensive Development Framework (CDF) of the Kyrgyz Republic till 2010″ adopted by the National Forum in 2001.
Attracting foreign direct investment announced one of the main priorities of economic policy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Practical steps to establish mechanisms to implement the new investment policy, resulting from the I Isyk kul skom Investment Summit were the creation of the Advisory Council for Foreign Investment: identification of key areas to effectively attract foreign investment into the national economy, eliminate administrative barriers and strengthening the marketing policy of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The main directions of the effective attraction of foreign investments into the national economy eliminate barriers and strengthen the marketing policy of the Kyrgyz Republic – specific activities in the form of investment matrix contained normative legal acts of the Kyrgyz Republic.
On the removal of barriers to investors and entrepreneurs, creating a favorable business environment designed following governmental actions:
• Improving corporate governance in the banking sector
• The development of nonbank financial sector
• Reform of fiscal policy
• Improvement of customs legislation
• Elimination of administrative obstacles and barriers to investment by limiting government intervention in the investment and other business activities (reduction of licenses, permits, inspections)
• Reform of technical regulation, based on the application of international standards, norms, rules, recommendations
• Implementation of the principles of free trade
• creating an attractive environment for direct investment in priority sectors of the economy (mining, energy, tourism, agriculture and processing industry, services, information technology)
• Strengthening the protection of investors and their investments
• Other activities that improve the investment attractiveness of the republic
The new policy of attracting private investment into the national economy is beginning to bear fruit, and is confident that the Kyrgyz Republic to the environment, which will create all the necessary and sufficient conditions for a foreign investor for the investment of private capital and generate the expected benefits.
