Location of Kyrgyzstan: Kyrgyzstan is located in Central Asia. It can be located with geographic coordinates: 41 00 N, 75 00 E. Kyrgyzstan has total area of 8,500 sq km i.e. 76,640 sq miles. It is surrounded by land boundaries Uzbekistan in west 1,099 km, Kazakhstan in north 1,051 km, Tajikistan in south 870 km, China east 858 km.
Administrative regions of Kyrgyzstan: Kyrgyzstan has parliamentary republic form of government. Kyrgyzstan consists of six regions and one city (often called shaar) Bishkek. Six regions are Chuy Region (Chuy Oblasty), Jalal-Abad Region (Jalal-Abad Oblasty), Naryn Region (Naryn Oblasty), Osh Region (Osh Oblasty), Talas Region (Talas Oblasty), Issyk-Kul Region (Issyk-Kul Oblasty). Currency of Kyrgyzstan: Currency of Kyrgyzstan is SOM. As one one dollar is equal to hundred cents or a dollar can be divided into hundred division of cents. Similarly, one SOM is equal to hundred TYIN. In simple words you can say, 1 SOM=100 tyin.
Language of Kyrgyzstan: Kyrgyz is the official language of the country and along with most of people of the country speaks Russian.
Capital of Kyrgyzstan: Bishkek is capital as well as largest city of Kyrgyzstan. It is very beautiful city and would be good place to start your tour to the mountains and alpine lakes of Tien Shans. It is not much old city and has limited number of historical sites but still city is of great importance being capital of the country. It is administrative center of Chuy Province which also surrounds the city. Bishkek is example of the one of the most advanced and well planned city of Kyrgyzstan.
Climate of Kyrgyzstan: Climate of Kyrgyzstan shows diverse changes due to existence of mountains. Country receives heavy snowfall during winter. You will different climate in different regions of the country. In the Fergana Valley, you will find the subtropical climate while in the northern foothills zone it is temperate. You can observe that there is dry continental climate on the lower mountain slopes due to hot deserts winds received from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan while on other hand, highest mountain elevations have polar climate. Temperature varies at different places in different months. Places of higher elevations are much colder than then lower areas. Generally the precipitation is between 100 and 500 mm i.e. 4 and 20 inch in the valleys while from 180 to 1,000 mm i.e. 7 to 40 inch in the mountains.
