Attractions in Osh

From last few decades, the city of Osh is attracting more and more tourists. Reason of attraction towards the city is its natural beauty, historical places and architecture of the city. Anyone would like to see such heavenly place.



One of the most famous places of the city is a monument of unipolar Takht Suleiman Mosque, unique in its location, since it was built on the eastern summit of Mount Suleiman Too, at a height of almost 150 meters. In recent decades, this structure was associated with the name Muhammad Babur Zakhiriddin, a descendant of Timur (Tamerlane) and was called Babur’s house.
In the folk tradition of the telegram, veteran Osha says: Once the Prophet Sulayman was praying on a mountain Osh. He bowed his knees on the stone slab and bowed to the god of the earth. The forehead and the knees of the Prophet Suleiman left on a stone slab mark on forever. And the mountain in honor of the Prophet Sulayman became known as “Takht-Suleiman” – “the throne of Solomon.”
Equally noteworthy is the monument of XVIII – XIX centuries. Asaf ibn Buhra mausoleum, located at the foot of the eastern slope of Sulaiman-Too. According to folk legends mausoleum is named after a mythical king associate Sulaiman (Solomon) ibn Buhra Asaph, to be buried after his death at the foot of this mountain that, according to legend, was executed, and over his grave was erected architectural structure, which during its long , a centuries-old history has repeatedly destroyed and re-erected the new generations.
The high level of popularity Sulaiman-Too in the Islamic world contributed to the approval of the city of Osh, as one of the central Asian Muslim religious centers, which in turn caused the construction of the set of places of worship in the area of Sulaiman-Too, and around the city of Osh.
The most significant of the religious buildings of the city (Rawat Abdullakhan Jamia Mosque, Madrasah Alymbekov Paravanchi Dutka, madrasas Muhamedboy Türk Hal Muratbaeva, madrasas Damulla Hazrat Muhammad-Sydykov-Akhund-Aglam, etc.) are excellent examples of architectural and construction of the Fergana school.
Along with the monuments of Muslim worship, in the central square of the city is located only in the city of Osh, a monument to Russian Orthodox architecture of the early twentieth century, Michael the Archangel Church. This monument has managed to survive the hardships associated with the “cultural revolution” of Soviet power and in 1991 was returned to the Orthodox religious community.
The unique natural attractions of the city of Osh are a mountain of Suleiman-Too. It is an open-air museum, located in the heart of the city and is unique in its beauty and location. Legends and folk traditions is covered Suleiman Mountain, considered sacred from time immemorial.
